Lifestyle Diseases

The term refer to diseases that afflict people mostly in developed countries due to either lifestyle choices (unhealthy diets, sedentary lifestyles, smoking and drinking) or due to increased life spans. Common lifestyle diseases include heart disease, cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, asthma, chronic liver disease, COPD, diabetes, stroke, osteoporosis.

In the race to join the developed nations on the top of the rankings table, the developing nations paid little attention to the differences between the countries. The direct result of ignoring those signs has resulted in the form of adopting new lifestyle patterns, which were totally different from what was followed years before.
Although medicine has evolved extensively, and has eradicated most of the diseases that were prevalent in the 19th
century, the next generation has been plagued with a fresh set of diseases, creatively called “lifestyle diseases”.
